Cooperation between the 2 universities began in 2018 when the presidents of the two universities signed an agreement to conduct courses in the undergraduate Statistics 2+2 program with the Mongolian University of Science and Technology and the Northwestern Polytechnic University of the People's Republic of China.
In 2018, the first students were admitted, and these students studied 2 years at the School of Applied Sciences of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology, and 2 years at the Northwest Polytechnic University of the People's Republic of China, respectively, and graduated in the spring semester of 2022. During the curfew imposed during the Covid-19 epidemic, as a result of the work of the administration of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology and administration of the University of Applied Sciences, the students of the joint program provided classrooms and equipment to conduct their online classes, and as a result of their work, the first entrants of the Statistics 2+2 program successfully graduated without delay. Northwestern Polytechnic University also supported Mongolian students to study remotely during the pandemic. After the pandemic, China opened its borders to receive foreign students, and further cooperation is expected to expand.
