By the donation of “Mitsubishi Electric” corporation’s branch “Setsuyo Astec Corporation”, the “Programmable logic controller and motor control” laboratory opened at the School of Power Engineering on 24th April 2017.
Prof. B. Ochirbat, President of MUST, welcomed and met with Mr. Keigo Yamamoto, Senior staff of Office of Art, Culture and People’s Relation, Embassy of Japan, Mr. Masahiro Fujisawa, Manager of Mitsubishi Electric, Mr. Masatoshi Kaibori and Mr. Satomi Yamaguchi, Manager of Setsuyo Astec.
Programmable logic controller (PLC) is the most important and most used equipment for advanced industrial and technological process automation. This equipment is advanced and it allows flexible controlling mechanism based on programming, precise, broad usage and adaptable to work with other devices.
In 1995, the first logic controller laboratory opened at the School of Power Engineering by the donation of Singapore Polytechnics. At that time, six FP1-24C programmable logic controllers which were manufactured by Misubishi Electric facilitated this laboratory. From 2000-2002, by the cooperation of Japanese Volunteer Association (JOCV) renewed the laboratory with MELSEC FX1 programmable logic controller and Mitsubishi FR-A540 motor controller. Mitsubishi Electric is most experienced and advanced company which produce programmable logic controller since 1977.
This time, the laboratory equipped with advanced and latest models of FX3G-40MT/ES-A programmable logic controller with 15 sets, MELSERVO JNA servo motor controller 2 sets and 3 sets of motor controller which are total amount of 750 thousand yen. Thus, “Erchim Engineering” LLC transported these equipments.
This laboratory will be used for training for undergraduate and graduate students of electric system automation, industrial automation program and the engineers for their professional development.
